The Glennie School, Toowoomba

Years 11 and 12

The Glennie Senior Years program delivers an extensive choice of learning pathways and flexible study options, and is designed to prepare and motivate your daughter as she moves onto the next stage of her life journey.

Our Senior curriculum offers a personalised approach to learning, immersing girls in relevant and engaging real-world learning experiences that place her in the best position to reach her full potential.

Students are well supported to achieve their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) through flexible and supportive study options that prepare girls for life beyond the classroom. We also offer a Vocational Education and Training (VET) program that enables students to study courses offered within our timetable as well as external courses.

The Senior Years curriculum offers a diverse selection of study areas, resources and support structures, presenting your daughter with extensive opportunities to enrich her learning experience and discover her goals and future aspirations.

The Glennie Senior Years program will assist your daughter to develop into a capable and confident young woman of strength and integrity – optimistic, self-aware and adaptable, with a strong sense of compassion and social justice.

Drawing on our rich tradition of academic excellence, Glennie offers four extension subjects for Year 12 students: English and Literature Extension, French Extension, Music Extension (Composition) and Music Extension (Performance). Additionally, students on elite pathways in Sport or the Arts may be eligible for academic support through the High-Performance study line.

Motivation is Key

We recognise that motivation is the key to learning in adolescence, and that for learning to become a lifelong habit the motivation needs to come from within. The focus of our programs is to provide girls with a curriculum which gives them every opportunity to:

  • Experience and achieve success in a range of areas (the need for mastery)
  • Develop their curiosity (the need for understanding)
  • Use their creativity (the need for self-expression)
  • Develop satisfying connections and relationships

Pathways

We realise that every Glennie girl will make a different choice for her future. Your daughter may already have a clear career plan or she may still be exploring her options. As no two pathways are the same, we focus on providing each Glennie Senior with individual guidance to ensure she is pursuing the study pathway that places her in the best position to achieve her goals.

The Glennie School’s careers and vocational education and training staff are available to assist your daughter with exploring future career options, and help with subject selection and opportunities for work experience and school-based vocational education and training (VET).
