The Glennie School, Toowoomba

Queensland’s First Australian Olympic Pathway School

The Glennie School is proud to be the first school in Queensland – and the first regional school in Australia – officially designated as an Australian Olympic Pathway School by the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC).

This prestigious recognition is awarded to schools that meet the strict standards of the AOC and maintain a proven elite athlete development program. For our girls, it means their sporting journey is now formally connected to the highest levels of national competition.

Our Peak Performance Sport Program serves as the engine for this pathway, supporting seven Olympic disciplines: Rugby 7s, Hockey, Triathlon, Equestrian, Cricket, Modern Pentathlon, and Handball.

Becoming a professional athlete requires not just talent, but the right environment and our program carefully balances high-level training with academic life. With our world-class facilities and expert coaching, we provide the clear pathway for young sportswomen who dream of representing Australia.

This is a life-changing opportunity for our students to pursue their dreams of wearing the Green and Gold. We are incredibly proud of our talented young sportswomen who lead by example in the classroom and on the field. At Glennie, we are committed to helping every girl be
All She Can Be.

Mrs Emma Lowry, Principal, The Glennie School

Peak Performance Sport Program

Glennie provides a nationally supported athlete development pathway for girls, offering a structured foundation to help school-age athletes reach the top levels of competitive sport. Students progress through a three-tier system, and are offered holistic support to excel on and off the field. As part of the program, Glennie athletes have access to professional-grade resources:

  • Aquatics: 25m heated indoor ten-lane swimming pool.
  • Strength: High-Performance Strength and Conditioning Gym.
  • Athletics: Toowoomba’s only synthetic athletics track.
  • Court Sports: Multipurpose volleyball, netball, and basketball courts, plus dedicated tennis courts.
  • Field Sports: Multiple ovals for Football, AFL, and Rugby.

This recognition from the Australian Olympic Committee reflects the strength of the elite Peak Performance Program that we have developed. It acknowledges the presence of accredited coaching, access to quality facilities, wellbeing, nutrition and psychological mindset support, and a clear commitment to helping student athletes balance academic progression with athletic performance.

At Glennie, we are nurturing the next generation of Australian leaders and sportswomen.
