These critical years in your daughter’s education will form the basis of her future development and growth – intellectually, physically, creatively, emotionally, and spiritually.
The Glennie Junior Years curriculum has been specifically designed to engage and empower girls from Prep to
Year 6, providing a strong foundation for enhancing literacy, numeracy and problem-solving skills.
Glennie girls experience a progressive and enlightening educational program, that nurtures them in the fellowship of Christian care and develops their skills on the foundation of trust, integrity, compassion, courage, respect, and social responsibility.
Your daughter will be encouraged to explore, discover and develop through the use of innovative learning programs, together with best practice teaching methods, contemporary resources and first-class facilities and learning experiences.
Every girl from Prep to Year 6 is supported and encouraged to give her best. Emphasis is placed on developing the essential skills of literacy and numeracy, with the Australian Curriculum and the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority providing guidance in relation to the programs of work that are developed for each year level.

Developing each girl’s social and emotional wellbeing is an integral part of the Glennie Junior Years curriculum. Your daughter will participate in a wide range of wellbeing programs and classroom discussions to help her develop essential life skills.
The Bridge Builders® wellbeing program is embedded into our Junior Years curriculum, empowering each of our girls with the tools and resilience to deal with everyday conflict.
Your daughter will build on her problem solving and communication skills and develop effective conflict resolution strategies to help her develop courage, confidence and collaborative thinking.
Each of our Junior Years girls is paired with an older buddy, encouraging a friendly and supportive community. Our Prep girls are paired with a Year 6 buddy, Year 1 girls with a Year 5 buddy and so on as they progress through the Junior Years.
Your daughter will have the opportunity to bond with her buddy during regular Buddy Morning Teas, House Meetings and a range of other planned activities throughout the year. Building these important social connections and support networks help our younger girls to develop a strong sense of belonging and develops leadership skills and responsibility in our older students.
We understand that each girl is an individual with her own diverse abilities, learning styles and interests, and may learn at a different pace or in a different way to her peers.
Through our dynamic, tailored learning initiatives and differentiated learning support and extension programs, each Glennie girl is given an opportunity to learn at her own pace, assisting her to reach her full potential.
Girls who are demonstrating very high ability in particular areas of the curriculum have the opportunity to extend and enhance their talents with challenging learning experiences through our IdeasPLUS@Glennie series of workshops.
Each workshop focuses on a different area of the curriculum and is designed to be complex, abstract, challenging, interesting, hands-on, motivating, and multi-disciplinary. The content of our workshops is advanced, beyond the expectations of the year levels of the participants to stimulate higher order thinking, analysis and reflection.
All girls from Years 1 to 6 participate in our High Performance Program (HPP). This innovative program has been developed with personalised learning, problem-solving, and critical and creative thinking at its core.
The girls are grouped with students at similar stages in their academic development, providing the opportunity to:
In their HPP groups, girls engage with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) content, while focusing on 21st century skills. Each of the activities is designed to be appropriate for the individual levels of development.
Assistance is available for girls who may need some extra support with literacy, numeracy and language skills. Providing differentiated support to students with additional learning needs ensures all students are able to make the most of our dynamic academic program.
Complementing our strong academic programs, Glennie provides a rich and diverse range of extra-curricular activities designed to provide a balanced education and inspire your daughter to explore and develop her unique interests and talents.
