Party Invitations

22 April 2016

If inviting girls to a party for your daughter’s birthday, unless the whole class is invited (which would be very brave!), please could you hand out invitations away from The School. With the younger girls in particular, this causes unnecessary upset that  the teachers then have to resolve.

Thank you for your understanding and support with this matter.

If your worries have grown so big that they bother you almost every day, this book is for you.  An interactive self-help book for 6 to 12 year olds and their parents.

  • How they can stand in the way of it

Reading Volunteers Needed – TERM 2 & 3

23 March 2016

PAL READING – Parents Assisting with Literacy

  • WHO:   Anyone interested in helping children learn to read
  • WHEN:  Tuesday and Thursday mornings before school
  • TIME:     8:20 – 8:30 am

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY – ALL TRAINING PROVIDED
Reading with a child is a very rich and rewarding experience. Volunteer readers enable students to engage in positive reading experiences on a one-to-one basis, which helps our girls to gain confidence and develop critical reading skills that help them to read accurately and fluently with meaning.

This support can make a tremendous difference in the lives of girls who find reading difficult. Some girls just need extra time and practice; and one-on-one reading has been proven to be very effective in helping girls achieve success and improve their reading ability.

An information and training afternoon will be offered at the end of Term 1 and again at the start of Term 2.

If you might be interested in volunteering for this rewarding reading experience, or you would like further information on the program, please contact Mrs Kerryn Chapman (Learning Support Co-ordinator) via the school office or by email chapmank@glennie.qld.edu.au.

Your support means the world to us, and to our girls.
