The Year 2 girls went to St Matthew's Church Drayton and The Royal Bull’s Head Inn as part of History this term.
At the Inn, the girls dressed in period costume and cooked damper and shepherd's pie, including pulling the vegetables, mincing the meat and making the butter. Some girls dressed as washerwomen and learnt to wash and wring out the clothes. Others served the meal, emptied the chamber pots and washed the dishes. The travellers lived the high life, playing cards and singing around the piano.
All the girls explored the history behind this magnificent building and the important role it plays in the history of Toowoomba and it's connection to The Glennie School
It was a fabulous opportunity and learning experience for the girls.
