Winter Sport Update

21 August 2015

Touch Football

The winter season has finished for Glennie’s C and B grade teams. B grade finished in sixth position and C grade eighth. Thank you to all girls for their commitment and effort through a long season. Thanks also go to the coaches: Mr Wallace, Miss Harth and Miss Gersekowski.

Season 2 of Toowoomba Volleyball is into its third week with all teams starting well. In particular, GS1 and GJ1 have new challenges, both being put a grade up after their Season 1 successes. Good luck to all girls and coaches as the season continues into Term 4.

The regular Saturday season has concluded and now finals begin. Glennie has nine netball teams in semi-finals this Saturday. Good luck, girls!. The Wednesday season for Senior and Junior Vicki Wilson and our social teams has been extended due to the unavailability of the USQ venue over the last month.

Football has been in full swing this term with the Fillies, Seconds, Junior and Junior Development teams all playing on Friday and Wednesday respectively. The Under 15 Bill Turner team reached the quarter final stages and the Uhlsport Cup senior team reaching the semi-finals. Both teams were defeated by St Peter Clavier College in tight games.

With finals just around the corner, we say thank you, to Mrs Watts and her team of coaches for all their work.

Secondary School Tennis

Last Friday afternoon and evening, Glennie entered two teams in the annual Secondary School Tennis tournament. This year’s event ran under a different format which was interesting for all players. Well done to Rosie Parry-Okeden, Madeleine Lipp, Katie Deane, Abbey Moller, Georgie Wathen, Meg Killen, Beining Zhang and Alyssa Ball on their performance, with Glennie finishing third and fourth.

Many thanks to our tennis coach Mr Clint Beutel for preparing and looking after both teams.
