Moogerah Dam? Where’s that? Was the common question from the Year 8s before camp but after four days exploring and doing activities, the answer was “a great spot”.
Arriving at camp the Year 8 girls found a perfect campsite on the banks of Moogerah Dam and spent the next four days exploring all that it could offer.
A half day canoeing and hiking around the beautiful cliffs and inlets around the dam followed by lunch, allowed the girls to see the beautiful landscape and build their team skills.
Group activities like dragon boating, tubing and giant stand-up paddle boarding required lots of teamwork and problem solving but were lots of fun and very muddy on occasion.
Abseiling and rock climbing challenged the girls to overcome initial fears, with all the girls supporting each other to push themselves.
Trivia night and a campfire on the final night were also highlights of camp. Congratulations to the teachers for winning the trivia competition. Well done!
The CYC Instructors were full of praise for the girls and their positive ‘give it a go’ and ‘have fun’ attitude. Great work!
Many thanks to the amazing teachers that helped make this a memorable camp. Mrs Kearney, Mrs Broadfoot, Ms Carmody, Miss Taylor, Miss Stonestreet and Ms Gloudemans. Thank you for your support and care of the girls.
