On Friday, 18 October, 75 students and staff embarked on an excursion to Brisbane to further develop the skills required for the new QCE Senior Arts subjects. Students in Dance, Drama, Music, Visual Arts and Visual Arts in Practice attended workshops, performances and the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA)to work on assessment task-related material and gather new ideas and shared experiences.
The Visual Arts and Visual Arts in Practice students attended GOMA and the Queensland Art Gallery to source artworks and artists that will inspire them and form the basis for their responding and making tasks over the next two terms. The Dance students participated in workshops with Mad Dance House and Expressions Dance Company directly relating to tasks IA1 and 2. The Drama students attended a performance of Jane Eyre at the Cremorne Theatre at QPAC, which is directly related to the curriculum. The Music students attended a lecture and workshop at The University of Queensland with Dr Chris Perren in preparation for their IA2 composition task.
This excursion allowed Arts students to bond over lunch before attending GOMA to view a number of creative and contemporary artworks. After a long but engaging day, the girls returned home with many new ideas, techniques and influences.
