Rehearsal day - Monday, 15 July

On Monday, 15 July (student free day) all instrumental and dance groups and staff will be busy rehearsing to ensure that we are ready for the Toowoomba Eisteddfod. As the Eisteddfod commences in Week 2 next term, it is important that our school ensembles and groups rehearse on this student free day. This will ensure that our groups are ready after the holiday break. Girls are encouraged to continue to practise their repertoire during the holidays, and in particular, listen to the recordings that staff have placed on their ensembles’ Google classroom page or emailed directly to them. Listening to the repertoire is extremely beneficial for ensemble students and girls are asked to do this on a regular basis.

For parents who are new to Glennie and Toowoomba, the Eisteddfod is split into two parts. Part 1 covers Dance solos, Piano, Speech and Drama groups, and Choirs, and is held in May each year.  Part 2 of the Toowoomba Eisteddfod is held in late July/early August each year and includes Dance groups, Woodwind solos/groups, Speech and Drama solos, Strings, Bands, Orchestra and Ensembles, and Brass and Percussion sections.

Part 2 of the Toowoomba Eisteddfod commences on Thursday, 25 July (Term 3, Week 2). As the program is released, we will publish the dates of individual groups to parents and students in eNews, as well as via email to ensemble and dance group members. We expect that this information will become available in Week 1 next term. We have listed the dates proposed by the eisteddfod committee below in our PAC Gig Guide to use as a guide for families. Please note though, we are unable to confirm specific dates and times until the Eisteddfod program has been released.

On the rehearsal day, girls should wear casual clothes as per The Glennie School casual clothes policy. Girls are asked to pack plenty of food for the day as they will be given regular breaks.
