Kyoto Study Tour coming in March

Glennie will again host the Kyoto Girls’ Junior High School for their study tour from Thursday, 7 March to Sunday, 17 March.  We had a wonderful response from last week’s eNews call for help and are now looking for families to host another 10 Kyoto students.

The students would stay with your family for 10 nights.  The students would be collected after school on Thursday, 7 March and will depart on the morning of Sunday, 17 March.

All activities, except the Kyoto weekend activities, are carried out during school time. The students are able to be supervised after school at Glennie to meet your work requirements if necessary.

During the study tour, host families will need to:-

  • Drop off and pick up the student each school day
  • Provide the student with breakfast, morning tea, lunch and dinner, including a packed lunch for school
  • Speak English to your student
  • Spend time with the student to make the experience as memorable as possible

Becoming a host family can be a culturally rewarding experience for your family. All host families will be remunerated for hosting the girls. It is also important to remember that we have a wonderful reciprocal relationship with Kyoto Girls’ High School. Our Glennie girls are treated as part of the family when it is their turn to visit Japan. The Kyoto host families offer a warm and welcoming environment for our visiting Glennie students which contributes largely to the overall experience overseas.

If you would like to host a Kyoto student for their study tour, it would be sincerely appreciated. It can be a very rewarding experience for your family as well as your visiting student.

If you are interested in this opportunity or you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact Bronnie Stiles at, or Lyndrea Lynch at  We would be happy to discuss specifics of the homestay or provide you with additional information regarding this unique and rewarding experience.
