– Be Connected. –

From the Principal 8 Nov

This week, we held an evening function to thank many of our volunteers for their contribution to the School over the last year. It was an enjoyable night to meet together and for the School to say a sincere thank you. The night was not particularly formal but that seemed to be in line with the natural feeling of appreciation (and the desire of all to enjoy a relaxed time together) that was at the heart of the event.

Parents have helped the School this year in many ways. It would be impossible to create a list of every assistance provided. The evening included some presentations to a few who were present (and some absent friends were mentioned) but the intent was to honour all who have added to the community during the year.

I mentioned on the night that the benefits to the School of this participation is significant. Yet, I also hoped all felt they had personally benefited by volunteering. This might include developing a better bond with staff, enjoying the connections with other students (the friends of their daughters) and adding ideas about how we can increase the numbers who 'get involved'. I did suggest an excellent method was to volunteer your friends ...then let them know. It was 'tongue-in-cheek' (probably) but perhaps there are some just waiting to be invited to volunteer. If that is the case, can I say with a virtual megaphone "please join-in". Be part of the great things that happen at Glennie. If you are not presently part of any of the volunteer groups, please have a serious conversation with yourself... be confident that participation in your daughter's school will enhance your life and add to the positive memories of her time at school. There is real fun in being connected.

You will recall that we recently notified you of our intent to start the search for our new Principal sooner than initially anticipated.  After an initial delay, we are now in a position to begin the recruitment process. You will see the advertisement appear in The Australian tomorrow morning.
