From The Head Of Webber House 1 April 2021

Webber House has hit the ground running in Term 1. After finishing 2020 with exciting wins in the Margaret Sharpe Cup and Interhouse Dance and Drama, we were ready to embrace the challenges of 2021. Under the leadership of a fine group of Year 12s, capably led by our Captains, Tiggy Ladner and Aimee Freund, the girls have set such a beautiful tone in our House – encouraging, positive and welcoming. All Webber girls are now part of a ‘bunch’. Our Grape bunches meet together in House time and include girls from each year level. We will continue to do activities in our ‘bunches’ as we head into Term 2.

Term 1 has been jam-packed with three big events for Webber – Interhouse Swimming, Cross-country and our annual Webber Dinner and Lawn Bowls night. Yes, we may not have won any of the Interhouse events thus far, but our girls are quickly learning to embrace the lessons learned through not winning – humility shows such strength of character!!

Our Bowls Night was so much fun. Covid restrictions dictated a few changes to our traditional Webber dinner and the Senior Committee did a wonderful job of adapting to change. Unfortunately, our numbers had to be capped at 120, however, this didn’t dampen the spirit of all in attendance, with students and families of various ages throwing themselves into barefoot bowls at the Toowoomba South Bowls Club. The night ended with a final game where the challenge was to see who could make their bowl stop closest to our Webber balloons in the centre of the green.

A big thankyou to all Webber families who supported this night and my wonderful Senior Committee who put it all together.

I wish every Webber girl and their families, as well as our wonderful Webber staff, a very blessed and restful Easter.
