Women in Engineering

3 June 2016

UQ's Women in Engineering (WE) are offering girls in Year 10, 11 and 12 the opportunity to go to University of Queensland, St Lucia to explore engineering possibilities and how future learning in the STEM field can be applied to careers.

The WE Explore Engineering Regional Schools includes return transport to Brisbane, overnight accommodation at The Women's College or Duchesne College, meals and activities. The cost to participate is $50.

Students will participate in two events as follows:

Thursday 21 July - Engineering Futures Evening (4:30pm - 7:00pm)

Students will be inspired as they hear about the journeys of female engineers from:

  • Google
  • Boeing
  • Cochlear
  • Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN)

Friday 22 July - WE Explore Engineering Day (8:15am - 2:00pm)

Students will tackle hands-on engineering workshops and discover why engineers are society's problem solvers. They can select three workshops that interest them.
