The Glennie Community Kindergarten teaches both girls and boys, using a flexible program which involves learning through a play-based approach. The program fosters children's talents, creativity and individuality, problem solving and promotes a deep sense of belonging.
Kindergarten is an important year during which your child will establish the foundations of future learning and happiness. Our teachers support and extend the children's learning by encouraging their skills in creative play, problem solving, literacy and numeracy, listening, motor development and socialization.
To enrich your child's Kindergarten experience, age-appropriate guest performers and specialist educational activities are incorporated into the weekly program.
Activities, delivered by the Junior Years specialist staff, ensure appropriate instruction and recognition of abilities using the Junior Years' outstanding specialist facilities.
Specialist activities incldue:
- Perceptual Motor Skills
- Religious Education
Transition to Prep
Our Kindergarten program is designed to achieve a smooth transition into Prep. Each term includes a number of transition activities. As the year progresses contact with the Glennie Prep teachers and facilities increases.
The location of the Kindergarten beside Junior Years, allows the children to interact with the older girls, building on the notion of community and belonging. Girls continuing their education at Glennie have the advantage of familiarity with the Junior Years campus. Programs for Prep onwards are available for girls only.
