Kindergarten is an important year for your child, laying the foundations for establishing a life-long love of learning and building a strong sense of well-being and belonging.
The Glennie Community Kindergarten provides a fun-filled and supportive environment for girls and boys to learn through play and exploration, preparing your child for a smooth transition to school.
Open to both girls and boys, the Glennie Community Kindergarten provides engaging learning experiences that will inspire your child to explore and develop their creativity and curiosity.
Our Kindy’s play-based curriculum exceeds the National Quality Standard and concentrates on introducing the children to essential learning and development skills in the areas of identity, connectedness, wellbeing, active learning, and communicating. Literacy, numeracy and technology are integrated into the program to ensure your child is well-prepared for the transition to Prep.
Each age group at the Glennie Kindergarten is led by a qualified teacher with at least four years' training in Early Childhood education. An Early Childhood-trained assistant supports each group.
Located on the Glennie Junior Years campus, our Kindergarten features well-resourced rooms, including interactive educational screens and a secure outside play area. Our resident chickens and turtle are much-loved additions to our community and prove to be very popular with the children.
Children can attend the Kindergarten if they are three years old before 31 March. It is a condition of enrolment that children are fully toilet trained. Children attend for a full school day from 8:15am to 3:15pm, with a choice of five days per fortnight or five days per week.
For families who require additional care, Glennie Kindy Care is available from 3:15pm to 6:00pm on weekdays during term time with vacation care available from 7:30am to 6:00pm each weekday during school holiday periods.
A Queensland Government Approved Kindergarten licenced by the Office of Early Childhood, the Glennie Community Kindergarten follows the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). The Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG) builds on this framework, providing teachers with specific advice on delivering a quality program for children in the years prior to Prep.

Throughout the year, Glennie’s specialist Junior Years teachers introduce the Kindergarten children to dance, perceptual motor skills, religious education, languages, gymnastics, music, and art. The children delight in the variety these activities add to the Kindy program and it ensures that by the time our Kindergarten girls are ready to move into Prep, they are already familiar with the Glennie Junior Years campus and teachers.
