Italian Treasures - 2019

21 June 2018

A Historical and Cultural Tour of Italy

The Senior Years Social Science Department has organised an exciting enrichment, educational and travel opportunity for our students and members of the wider School community in 2019.  We would like to offer you and your daughter the chance to spend the September and October holidays visiting Italy.

Our Italian Treasures tour offers each of us the prospect to explore the rich history, culture and natural beauty of some extraordinary destinations. You will have the chance to travel to Rome, Vatican City, Pompeii, Herculaneum, Sorrento, the Amalfi Coast and the islands of Capri and Sicily. It will be a great chance to meet new friends, taste new foods and enjoy La Dolce Vita – the good life! There will also be opportunities to shop, swim and have lots of fun along the way.

The tour will be open to students in Years 10, 11 and 12 in 2019. Students do not have to be enrolled in Ancient and Modern History or Geography. All tour members need to be prepared to support each other and have an open and inquiring mind. Grandparents, parents, family members, Old Girls and friends of the School are welcome to join us too. We are looking at a program of approximately eighteen days of travel.

Itinerary and general information will be available during Term 3. For those people wanting to do some long-term planning, deposits will be due in Term 4 with final payments made by the end of Semester 1 in 2019. If you have, any questions please feel free to contact me by phone (07) 4688 8821 or email duffinl@glennie.qld.edu.au.

I have successfully organised Glennie tours to Italy, Greece, Croatia, Montenegro, Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom and Europe and look forward, along with my colleagues, to leading the Italian Treasures trip next year.

Mr Leigh Duffin
Head of Department - Senior Years Social Science
Tour Co-ordinator
