A team of eight girls from Years 9 to 11 spent their Saturday planning, writing, editing, illustrating and publishing a book for the Write-a-book-in-a-day competition. At 8:00am, the Senior Years Library Lovers team received the parameters for their story - main characters, theme, setting and five words to be used. By 7:30pm, a printed and bound copy of Memories of Grandma had been produced, a full 30 minutes before the deadline. After judging, their book will be given to a Queensland hospital for the children to enjoy.
The competition raises funds for the Kids' Cancer Project and the girls in the Senior Years team are thankful for the sponsorship of Glennie Fair patrons. A second team will be competing on Sunday, 26 July and still require $200 to meet their fundraising target and be eligible for prizes. You can support the Middle Years Library Lovers team by sponsoring them online. All donations of $2.00 and over are tax deductible.
