It is always busy in Glennie’s Boarding Houses. Last Friday, girls attended Chess Club. Several senior boarders attended a musical performance in Queen’s Park with Mrs Linda Rother.
Three Year 12 boarders - Jane Evans, Fiona Murray and Belinda Groves conducted well received tours of the School on Saturday during GOGA reunion weekend. The girls enjoyed listening to stories of boarding life from past boarders.
There was a Saturday craft session in Brown House with Mrs Gayle Ash.On Saturday evening, a group of Brown House boarders attended a line-dancing session with Mrs Cass Daniells in Manning Theatre. Dowson House boarders hosted a team of Helensvale High School volleyball players from Friday to Sunday. This is now an enjoyable annual event. Mrs Krystal Watson escorted a group of boarders to the Languages and Cultures Festival in Queen’s Park on Sunday.
On Monday, we held the home town themed dinner where the boarders dressed up to represent their places of origin. Mrs Cass Daniells and her daughters performed a line-dancing demonstration with the boarders joining in with lots of fun and laughter. There were prizes for the best outfit in each year level and the best town of origin. The latter was won by the group from Taroom.
On Wednesday, Junior boarders had an early dinner before learning basic sewing skills with Mrs Lovell and Mrs McNab.
Tonight, a Bella Chicks presentation will be held in the Glennie Assembly Hall. There will be a special guest singer, Vita Adam, and a country theme. Boarders from other schools have been invited to attend this teen-positive event.
A group of boarders and boarding staff will attend the Toowoomba Grammar School and Fairholme’s joint production of the musical, Titanic at the Empire Theatre.
