On Monday, the Year 12 Glennie boarders invited their Fairholme counterparts to a special dinner held in Lawrance Hall Dining Room. Fairholme will return the favour next term.
This is always a special evening with senior boarders being able to catch up with close friends or make new friends. These dinners have been annual events since my arrival at Glennie in 2006 and something the girls look forward to as one of their special final functions in their final year of boarding.
The Boarding Committee, headed by Boarder Captain Jennifer Stewart and Vice-Captain Georgia Kennedy worked hard to decorate the room using green as a theme. Beautiful flowers were presented to each visitor and grateful thanks go to boarder parent, Mrs Helen Wilson, for her kind donation. Mrs Gayle Ash created a small arrangement for each visitor to take back to her room.
The Boarding Committee chose the meal and this year was one of the boarders' favourites of lasagne, special salads followed by sticky date pudding. Small gift bags of chocolates were created by Jennifer and Georgia for each table.
This evening always gives the girls the opportunity to socialise, but more importantly to be attentive hosts and good listeners. Traditionally, after dinner time is spent with the boarders visiting and inspecting one another's boarding houses.
We certainly look forward our trip to Fairholme next term.
