Ninety boarders attended the Fairholme Boarders' bash last Saturday. The girls had a great time meeting new friends, many of whom are rivals on the sporting field! Mrs Gillian Reynoldson and a group of boarding staff accompanied the girls.
On Monday, our Year 12 boarders and three staff attended a lovely dinner at Fairholme. We undertake this reciprocal arrangement with both groups of Year 12 boarders each year. Fairholme came to us last term. Some of our Junior boarders, along with Mrs Valerie Lovell and Mrs Tess McNab, enjoyed dinner together followed by craft on Wednesday evening.
After a busy day for the Indigenous girls at the dollmaking workshop, on Thursday in celebration of Naidoc Week, they hosted a special meal showcasing Indigenous culture that was enjoyed by the boarding community and special guests. Year 12 boarder Chelsea Oliver ran the evening and gave the Welcome to Country. Chelsea-Joyce Ryan from Maningrida spoke in her own language. A group of girls produced an entertaining dance. The evening was organised by our new Indigenous Co-ordinator, Mrs Janet Reed. She was assisted by Miss Jocelyn Makin, who formerly held this position and returned to Glennie for this special event.
