Over the holidays, Hospitality students spent three days in industry training at the Mercure Resort.
It was an early morning start - we boarded the bus at 6:30am and arrived at The Mercure Resort on the Gold Coast in time to begin work. What followed was a jam-packed three days of learning and practising hospitality skills. In two workgroups, we set up function rooms, worked in housekeeping, helped in the kitchen, did events and sales work and polished buckets of cutlery! For both nights we became guests, dining in the à la carte restaurant and staying in the resort rooms.
We learned so many valuable skills, with some of us deciding that the hospitality industry is one that we would like to participate inwhen we finish school. Many thanks to Mrs Johns, Mrs Brown, the Mercure Gold Coast staff and our parents for allowing us to have this wonderful opportunity.
