Why are you passionate about girls education?
I wish to inspire girls to embrace technology in an industry dominated by males. For them to be inspired by the role model, Ada Lovelace, and her pivotal work in the foundations of modern computing.
What sets Glennie apart from the other schools?
The passion and willing involvement of girls at all events. The support girls give each other across the entire school.
What is something others may not know about you?
I love adventure motorbike riding.
I have worked as a truck driver as well other many other jobs quite different to teaching.
What excites you about teaching?
Mentoring students when they find a passion and work to understand it and develop the related knowledge and skills.
What do you think the future of teaching looks like?
Greater independence for students to learn on their own terms. Teachers, therefore, acting as mentors rather than the leaders of learning. Students creating a learning portfolio of interests, experiences, courses, achievements - rather than subjects and marks.
