Resilience and social awareness were the theme of this year’s Year 8 Camp to Burleigh CYC. 91 energetic young ladies departed on Tuesday morning and were excited by the prospect of many wonderful activities to keep them engaged and learn about themselves and each other.
The rain didn’t stop the girls on Wednesday, they ploughed through and completed a full day of activities, learning a lot about their resilience along the way. Hot showers and warm clothes were definitely a loved item that evening though.
Across the four day camp, students participated in a range of activities including tubing, beach biking, rock climbing/abseiling, dragon boating and surfing, just to name a few. On Friday afternoon, we returned to Glennie with 91 tired and dirty, but ultimately, happy girls with lots of memories to share with their families.
It would be remiss of me not to thank a few staff on behalf of the girls. Mrs Blades, Mrs Farrell and Mrs Shapcott, thank you for your efforts in the organisation prior to camp. This would not have happened without you! Mrs Sullivan, Mrs Berghofer, Miss Chapman, Miss Redman and Miss Morgenstern, thank you for your energy and enthusiasm during camp. I’m sure the girls would agree that your willingness to give everything a go and participate with them - even in karaoke and dance parties in the evening, was a highlight for their camp.
