Last Saturday Mr Broom, Ms Bullock, Mrs Suhr and I had the privilege of working with the Year 6 girls during their Leadership Day. The day provided an insight into how they think and what their individual and whole group goals are for this year. It was a delight to hear the school values of respect, integrity, compassion and courage as they spoke of leading with great maturity. There was a clear understanding that leadership is not about being in charge but about taking care of those in your charge. There was also acknowledgement that leadership is not a rank or position but a service to be given. During the day words were added to a reflection board. Words that resonated with the girls were integrity, gratitude, kindness and trust. It was a great pleasure for staff to see the girls work together and complete a number of fun activities that had them pushing through some challenges and obstacles. A discovery of the day was that the ability of a group of people to do remarkable things hinges on how well those people can pull together as a team. Along with their teachers it will be a pleasure to support and guide this team of girls on their leadership journey.
