Wine grapes grow at Glennie

Mr Peter O'Reilly from The Queensland College of Wine Tourism (Stanthorpe) visited Glennie recently to offer his expertise in the planting of grapevines at Glennie.  This is a schools’ project looking at wine grape growing in various regions and soils.

The variety is Graciano which is an aromatic Spanish red wine grape variety that is prized for the rich colour and flavour it gives to blended wines.  If things go well we will consider expanding next year.

This project was to build relationships with schools and The Queensland College of Wine Tourism. It will be able to be incorporated into our developing Agricultural Science Program and build opportunities for our students to explore careers in Science related to Wine Making and associated agricultural industries.
