Toowoomba Woodwind Competition (1)

The Toowoomba Woodwind Competition is a fabulous opportunity for woodwind students to gain valuable performance experience and feedback on their repertoire leading up to the Toowoomba Eisteddfod and school performances.

This year, the event was proudly supported by McKenzie Music Etcetera and hosted by The Glennie School. Local businesses, including Middle Ridge Family Practice and The Podiatry Point, also provided sponsorship for the event.

Seventy solos were heard over the day, with the competition open for novice and experienced primary and secondary students, and also providing the opportunity for students to perform modern repertoire in a new ‘modern repertoire’ section.

This year, Director of Instrumental Music from Brisbane State High School, Mr Bradley Ruben, provided adjudication and feedback for students. Mr Ruben is well known in the area as a woodwind specialist and has previously adjudicated at the Toowoomba Eisteddfod woodwind and band sections providing a wealth of knowledge for the students who are soon to be performing at this year's Eisteddfod.

Gabrielle Kleidon (Oboe)

Isabella Poole (Alto Saxophone)
