Sock Recycling At The Glennie Fair

Did you know that one truck full of textile waste is dumped into landfill or burnt every second?

The Glennie Environmental Club wants to reduce our community's textile waste as much as we can, so we're starting with socks. Please bring in your socks, old or new, with holes or not, but please, clean!  Any socks that are still wearable will be donated to either Base Services or Protea Place. Any that are unwearable will be sent off to the company ‘Manrags’ to be recycled.

Collection buckets will be in every tutor room awaiting your donations. There will also be a collection point at the GEC stall at the Glennie Fair on Sunday, 8 March.

This is an easy way to make a difference right now, so please encourage everyone you know coming to the Glennie Fair to bring along their socks.

The Glennie Environmental Club looks forward to seeing you there.
