SCOTS Rugby 7s

On Saturday, 5 September the U15 and Open Rugby teams travelled to SCOTS PGC College in Warwick to compete in a Rugby 7s competition against many schools. With many girls away due to other sporting commitments, we took the opportunity to develop some of our younger and more inexperienced players. The Open girls had a tough day of competition, with minimal subs and strong opponents, they really had to push through. I would like to congratulate Jemmah Ronsen and Nell Hanly who barely had the opportunity to sub and always gave their best on the field.

The U15 team had many players new to the sport of Rugby and they took it in their stride unlike I’ve ever seen before. The girls went through the day undefeated in the pool, scoring many runaway tries by making solid hit-ups in the middle then spreading the ball wide to their speedsters. After a long hot day, the girls took on Fairholme College in the final and what a game it was. Unfortunately, the girls couldn’t get on top of Fairholme, however, I would like to congratulate Seferina Whap for scoring our one try in the final.

Thank you to our coaches Shenae Ciesiolka and Craig Coetzee, your expertise and commitment to our Rugby program are incredible and the girls couldn’t do it without you.
