Queensland Orienteering State Championships

Last weekend, three of your students attended the Qld Schools Orienteering Championships near Ipswich.  In the largest field for many years, the competition was fierce. Xanthe Schubert, G13 Years, won one gold and one silver from the three races.  Laura de Jong won one silver in her first year in the senior competition. Caitlyn Garratt at her first Championships competed in the biggest class, the 11 Years girls, with a total of 18 competitors with a best result of 5th in the individual event.

The Queensland team is selected from the junior and senior age classes.  After a weekend of very tough competition, Laura was selected to compete at the Australian Championships Carnival in Wagga Wagga and Beechworth late September.

Glennie finished 9th out of the 44 schools.
