The Winter Vacation Care program was filled with exciting activities that stimulated the imagination and curiosity of all children. During the first week, the children explored their creativity by engaging in various outdoor activities. Our tye dye day was artistic and creative. From playing at Laurel Bank Park to riding go-karts around the Glennie oval, the children made the most of the warm weather while playing in the outdoors. The second week was focused on sports play. We wanted to encourage the children to try new sports and step out of their comfort zone and experience new beginnings. We started the week by learning karate and playing basketball in The Clive Berghofer Sports Centre at The Glennie School. The children then took their creativity to the next level as they created a giant obstacle course. This was a highlight as their skills and abilities were challenged through construction activities. To finish the week, we brought the cinemas to the Assembly Hall; snacking on popcorn and sno cones while watching the movie ‘Onward’. The final week of the Vacation Care program allowed us to explore various cultures. Pitstop hosted a Mexican themed lunch where the children made their own nachos and also celebrated the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islader cultures by creating artworks for NAIDOC Day.

Over the Winter Vacation Care period, the Kindy Care children participated in multiple activities that saw them using their imagination and gross and fine motor skills. We had the pleasure of having Mrs Courtney and Miss Olivia join the Kindy Care house. During the first week, the children were engrossed with yoga with Miss Vanessa and throughout most afternoons, they requested yoga time, allowing them to find a sense of belonging. As we ventured into a lovely but very cold day at the park, children explored their curiosity by creating leaf angels. The following days consisted of making our own tye dye creations, go karting and making very yummy pizzas. The second week came flying around quickly, where the children engaged in karate activities, basketball fun with Miss Karina and their very own Amazing Race course. To finish off the week, we were greeted with a show buzz experience of sno cones and popcorn to watch Disney’s ‘Onward’. Our third week program consisted of various activities including planting herbs in the gardens of Glennie and creating rainbow sticks for NAIDOC Day. To finish off the holiday program, the Recycle Man came to visit us. He had a lot of interesting ideas on how to recycle our rubbish.
