P & F News And Fair Update

On behalf of the Glennie Parents and Friends’ Association, I hope you are reading this after enjoying the Christmas school holidays and festive season.  2020 was certainly a year of challenge but more importantly one for accomplishment and growth.

2021 is a year of hope and renewal, none of this is more true than with the Glennie P & F.  We received a fantastic response to the call for nominations for committee roles and will look to table these at the first P & F meeting of the year for a vote and appointment.  To all who came forward, I, the Committee and the girls of the School thank you immensely.

As we return to school and settle back into the routine I wanted to also take a moment to thank you all for your support of the Glennie One Stop Shop (GOSS).  As I am sure you are aware, the GOSS is run by the P & F and all proceeds are returned into the School community, whether that be via scholarships, awards, donations to the library or even major projects such as The Sue Edwards Science Centre or the Clive Berghofer Sports Centre.  Every item purchased assists the P & F to contribute towards projects important to the girls.  At a time where selling items on Facebook Marketplace or using a well marketed external vendor like Officeworks or similar is growing in popularity, it is heartwarming to see so many of you still supporting the P & F and the girls by choosing the GOSS.

Finally, as we all will have watched on the news, COVID-19 is still a concern for public gatherings.  With the heightened risk in mind and the need to ensure safety of our girls and families the P & F have made the difficult decision to not proceed with a Fair this year.

This is not a decision that has been taken lightly and I would like to thank all the School staff, P & F and supporter group committee members who attended meetings, shared thoughts and worked tirelessly over the Christmas break to explore all options available.  In lieu of the Fair and the need for families to contribute to class stalls, I hope that we can all come together throughout the year in smaller numbers to reconnect and renew classroom connections through the smaller events run by the P & F, supporter groups and other school groups.  I know I personally am looking forward to the possibility of Ben's Pop up Picnic, the possible PASA and GFISG events and even as a non-golfer showing up to support The Glennie School Foundation Golf Day.

Should you wish to learn more about the P & F or attend meetings for general interest please reach out to myself or find the meeting in the Glennie calendar for the second Tuesday of the month 5:30pm - 7:00pm.

Best wishes for the year ahead and look forward to seeing you all throughout the year.

P & F President
