This term we continue our series, introducing you to The Glennie School Foundation Directors.
The Glennie School Foundation promotes philanthropy, fellowship and communication through social and business networking opportunities to support the aims of the School. Funds raised by the Foundation are donated to the School to assist with facilities, resources and scholarships.
Foundation Directors are volunteers, donors, parents, past parents and friends of Glennie, all of whom seek to assist by financially supporting School projects.
Meet Foundation Chair: David Russell
My name is: David Russell
My occupation is: Dealer Principal
My family members are: my wife, Kelli, Mikayla (14), Felicity (12), Harrison (11), Isaac (8) and BJ (6).
What is your connection with Glennie? I have been a parent for 11 years and I have also served on the School Council previously.
What do you find most rewarding about being a Foundation Director? Fostering and encouraging a spirit of giving within the School community that makes a massive difference to the education of our girls. That difference is tangible in the first-class facilities they enjoy today and will have in the future. It’s also humbling for the Foundation to be able to give the Principal the scope to award various scholarships to create a rich and diverse school.
Why do you think philanthropy is important? Philanthropy can take a community to the next level. In this case, it is helping the school and its students to thrive and succeed.
What is your favourite food? At the moment one of my favourite meals is Sunday night roast lamb with the family.
