This term we continue our series, introducing you to The Glennie School Foundation Directors.
The Glennie School Foundation promotes philanthropy, fellowship and communication through social and business networking opportunities to support the aims of the School. Funds raised by the Foundation are donated to the School to assist with facilities, resources and scholarships
Foundation Directors are volunteers, donors, parents, past parents and friends of Glennie, all of whom seek to assist by financially supporting School projects.
Meet Foundation Director: Ros Whittaker
My name is: Ros Whittaker
My occupation is: Registered Nurse
My family members are: Andrew, Tori, Connor, Alexandra, Holly and Louis
What is your connection with Glennie? Mum of Alexandra, who graduated in 2018 and current student, Holly in Year 9
What do you find most rewarding about being a Foundation Director? I love being a member of the Foundation team as we work together to improve the school community with our capital works projects, as well as providing scholarships for students who may or may not have an opportunity to attend this amazing school
Why do you think philanthropy is important? Philanthropy is important. We are lucky to live in this beautiful city and be part of this community called The Glennie School. I think it is important to realise that not everyone is as fortunate as we are and we have the ability to help others and make what might seem impossible possible. This doesn't necessarily mean donating large sums of money, it can be as simple as donating some food to the food bank, running in the colour run, or visiting residents in an aged care home. It means sharing part of us with others.
What is your favourite food? Turkish
What did you want to be when you grew up? Either a chef or a nurse
