For the past two weeks, my Kindy students have investigated their body and the features that they have, eg. eyes, ears, hair, legs and arms. We have investigated major organs and bones in our bodies. There has been plenty of discussion about why we have these organs and bones as well as what their special jobs are within our bodies. Numeracy was incorporated in their play enabling students to count the ribs on the skeleton, fingers and toes. The students increased their literacy skills by naming body parts and benefited from the social and emotional skills of sharing, turn-taking and resilience.
