Everyday 35 Australians are diagnosed with blood cancer. That's one Aussie every 41 minutes. Although research is improving survival, sadly an Australian loses their life to blood cancer every two hours. As this is the year of ‘Be So Good You Can’t Be Ignored’, I made the decision to shave my head in order to raise funds for the Leukaemia Foundation.
Just over a month ago, I sent Mr Crawley an email outlining my plans and was thrilled to receive the “go ahead”. My first memory of the World's Greatest Shave was Year 5 in 2014, when current Year 12 student, Alice Dent, shaved her head. Alice’s story was so inspiring to me that I decided to follow in her footsteps.
I would like to express my thanks to the Glennie community, my friends, and of course my family, for letting me do something so big. Thanks to everyone's support, we have raised over $1,857 which will change the lives of so many people affected by blood cancer.
