Earlier this week, our Year 6 students attended the combined school’s Ecumenical Service in the Clive Berghofer Sports Centre, as part of IPSHA (Independent Primary School Heads Australia). The service provided a wonderful faith-sharing opportunity between our Glennie girls and students from our neighbouring schools. The theme reflected how we are God's light in the world and explored the Buddy Lights project that IPSHA schools are supporting this year. This program provides solar lights to children in developing countries to enable them to study after the sun sets. Our focus for this year will be supporting the Light Up Vanuatu arm of this project.
Students from each of the schools were involved in a trust exercise, which was not only a lot of fun but taught our girls the importance of teamwork and focussed on the difficulty of not being able to see where you are going or what you are doing.
For Caitlyn in Year 6, the Service was a great opportunity to welcome other students to Glennie and to take a moment to reflect, ‘The Ecumenical service was very enjoyable. The songs and the involvement with the other schools were very fun. Sharing this time with other Year 6 students in the region was enjoyable, and the prayers allowed us to reflect and the theme was a positive cause for us to focus on this year’.
