On Saturday, 24 October an enthusiastic group of staff and students braved the adverse conditions at the crack of dawn to take the Hike for Homeless Challenge.
After a stormy night with plenty of rain, the conditions were less than favourable at Jubilee Park. The conditions couldn't dampen our spirits, even if the physical challenge tried to. Most of the Glennie contingent signed up for the 10k event and at the halfway point, most wished they had not as the sheer enormity of the ascent became clear. There is no doubt that the hike is not for the faint-hearted but all personal struggles were cast aside as we remembered the great work of the Toowoomba Base Services, who this year raised over $60,000 at this event.
Congratulations to all of the participants this year and we hope to make this even bigger next year.
A special shout out must go to our new Principal, Ms Mary Anne Evans, who informed us at the end that, "I nearly died on that mountain!". That could not be further from the truth Ms Evans, you did an outstanding job and impressed us all with your determination and fitness.
