The Harley Mead Perpetual Trophy for Excellence in Composition competition is now open for Glennie students to enter. Since 2015, the trophy has been awarded to a student from Years 10 to 12 who exhibits a creative flair for composition, is willing to take risks in her work, and embodies the passion for creating new music. This student also exhibits the three features that Mr Harley Mead respected: humility, integrity and generosity of spirit. Mr Mead was a teacher, composer, conductor, musician and a member of the Glennie community.
To be eligible for this award, students will need to submit a folio of 3 compositions and a written supporting statement (300 words) that explains why and how their compositions represent them as a composer.
Take a listen to last year's winner, Lauren Baryla “Younger Me”.
Entries close on Monday, 24 May 2021. For more information and details on how to enter, students can join the Google Classroom using the code jtw2ztr or contact Mr Wisley.
The winner will be announced and presented with the trophy at the Inaugural Arts Curriculum Showcase on Thursday, 29 May.
