As the end of the year rushes upon us, we have the final events to look forward to. I hope all parents are placing in the diary as many events as possible. To be there, matters to the girls.
I have placed a new event into the calendar for the Year 12 girls. It will be a service where every girl is invited to speak about her journey through school. It will be an opportunity to reflect and share her personal story of the school experience and to thank and ponder the emotional reality that school has now come to an end. We have allocated 30 seconds to every girl. It will be a glimpse of all. The motivation for this service is a reaction to the tradition that has become common in some schools (not Glennie) of selecting 'the one' from the year group to represent all. At Glennie we value all and so, as the girls leave school, I want to honour all with a chance to voice their reflections. Incidentally, the service is called The Reflection Service. It will be emotional, surprising and to miss the final comments of the girls as they graduate will be a regret. Brothers are invited, as are parents and grandparents. We will all share a morning tea at the conclusion of the service with the girls. The date to save is Tuesday, 12 November. More information will come out to Year 12 parents early next week.
