It only seems like yesterday that the year began and we were welcoming our new families into the Donaldson House Community. Since then, it has been wonderful to watch the girls settle in and connect with their new classmates. Our 2021 Captains, Nell Hanly and Eloise Radford, set the goals for the year and are working towards bringing unity and a sense of belonging to the House, allowing the girls to form multiple connections throughout the year levels. Flock Groups have been formed to facilitate this and the girls will continue to do activities in these mixed year level groups during House time for the remainder of the year.
The Year 7s have smoothly transitioned into the Middle Years and ventured off to camp together last week. All the camp activities were completed as a House group and it was great to see the enthusiasm and resilience of the girls as we hiked/waded through the mosquito infested National Park, rowed as a team across the lake in our dragon boat and even attempted to surf. The camp was a great way to develop their growth mindset, a concept that we have been exploring together in our MFit lessons this term.
The Year 10s have joined the Senior Years Tutor groups and appear to be enjoying the vertical structure of these groups and the opportunity to connect with the older girls and their Tutor Teachers. D/A Tutor group is grateful for the dedication of their Tutor Teacher Mr Letizia who has been filling in for Mr Wisley while he has been on long service leave. Thank you Mr Letizia for all the support and care you have shown the girls this term. All the Tutor groups have run their own unique activities, ranging from morning walks on a Wednesday, to special celebrations for birthdays and Valentine’s Day.
It has been a busy term with two Interhouse carnivals. Both carnivals were well attended and it was great to see the majority of the girls compete in the standard events. Donaldson House proudly achieved 3rd place at the Swimming Carnival and 2nd place at the Cross Country Carnival. We had some great individual achievements in the pool recorded by Keeleigh Cauley-Gleeson, Madeleine Hill, Eloise McLoughlin and Kari Donaldson, and on the Cross Country track by Ella Donovan, Zoe Waters, Lily McGill and Rylee Franke. I am looking forward to seeing what the girls will achieve in the Interhouse Athletics Carnival next term.
In Term 2, we will also have the opportunity to meet as a House at our Annual Donaldson House Dinner on Friday, 11 June. Please keep an eye on your emails for an invitation to this event early next term.
