On Monday, we farewelled Mrs Cohen. She visited Year 10 camp to say goodbye to the girls there and then we held a picnic lunch on the School grounds to farewell her where all Junior, Middle and Senior Years girls attended. Mrs Cohen reminded the girls of the messages she has shared throughout her time at Glennie and the girls enjoyed the positive messages expressed.
We gave Mrs Cohen some gifts from all of the school community, including a drawing from one of the girls.
This artwork is a symbol to recognise the care she has given to all the girls while at Glennie, whether new or continuing. What is best for the students has been paramount in her decision-making.
She celebrated their individuality, supported them when needed, taught them to take a risk, work hard, fight for what is important and ‘Be Like a Girl’.
Jacob Finlay will be leaving us at the end of 2019 and in the new year will take on a P-12 role (as the school grows into secondary) at a school in Cairns. His passion for music education shines through in his classroom and co-curricular responsibilities and he will be missed by the girls across the School and parents alike.
I am pleased to announce that Lisa Markey will join the Sports team as Acting Sports Administrator (part-time) while Tanya Draheim is on leave in Term 4.
I am also pleased to announce that Tracie Beveridge will join the Glennie team from 14 October 2019 as the Director of Business. Tracie worked in finance and accounting for 20+ years and is currently the Finance Manager at Sunnybank Private Hospital (Healthscope), Brisbane. Tracie's stepdaughter Rosie is in Year 8 at Glennie and Tracie is looking forward to ensuring that the business operations facilitate the best outcomes for The Glennie School. We are delighted that Tracie decided to return to Toowoomba and we look forward to welcoming her.
