On Friday 11 June, Donaldson House families celebrated the end of Term 2 at our Annual Donaldson House Dinner. Our 70s Disco themed event proved a hit with plenty of dancing, trivia and a guess the song competition.
Parents and students competed for best dressed, with Mr McLoughlin and Ms Hensler taking out the parent prize, and Keeleigh Cauley-Gleeson, Georgie Hedge and Sorelle Young winning the student section. It was wonderful to have an opportunity to meet together as a House with parents, staff and students present. I personally would love to thank the Donaldson House Committee, the Kitchen Staff, the Hospitality students, IT staff and Maintenance staff for
all their help with this event.
In Term 2, we have continued to build our connections within the House with the Flock groups participating in a number of different challenges. They decorated records that were on display at our House Dinner, they designed outfits out of garbage bags for a disco-inspired Fashion parade and also participated in games such as the ‘duck and spoon’ race. We will continue to work within our Flock groups next term.
As we approach Term 3 we are starting to prepare for our Annual Fundraising Event, “Ribbon Day” which we organise with the Year 12 Chapel Committee. This year the proceeds from Ribbon Day will be shared between Leukaemia Support Queensland and the Australian Cancer Research Foundation. The event will be held on Thursday, 29 July and will involve some market stalls at morning tea and lunch selling delicious treats, and a multi-draw raffle.
We are currently accepting raffle prize donations from families and businesses in our community. If you would like to donate a prize please talk to myself or Reverend Sharon. We are grateful for any support.
