Football Queensland South West referee, Ashleigh McNamara, has been announced as Queensland’s Community Referee of the Year as part of FFA’s (Female Football Awards) rebel Female Football Week. The award recognises the important roles that women play in all aspects of the game.
After many years of refereeing, Ashleigh made her debut refereeing in the Toowoomba Football League’s (TFL) Premier Men’s competition last year. Ashleigh was also invited to referee at the U19 State Schoolboys/Schoolgirls Championship in Brisbane in 2019.
Ashleigh has also been nominated for the Dieter Klose Community Referee of the Year at the 2019 Football in Queensland awards night.
Ashleigh has juggled work, study and refereeing and has officiated at NPL Women’s semi-final matches on two occasions.
Ashleigh was our Futsal Captain in 2015 and completed her refereeing course while studying at Glennie.
