Bill Turner Football (1)

After qualifying for the regional finals of the Bill Turner Trophy, our U15 squad travelled to Warwick to take on Assumption College on Thursday.

Undeterred by icy conditions, the girls arrived ready to play for the regional title.

Injuries to key players didn’t hinder these girls from giving it their best shot.

The first half saw us dominate possession and have plenty of clear shots, with the ball barely coming into our own half.  It was looking promising for this young and inexperienced squad until a breakaway goal took us all by surprise.

Great performances from the girls couldn’t stop Assumption from banging in a couple more goals, despite us countering on every attack.  The only difference between the score line today was the conversion rate of shots on goal for Assumption compared to ours. They were just more accurate!

A game that could have gone either way ended up being 5-2 to Assumption College and with that, we wish them the very best of luck as they head into the next round of this competition playing for a spot in the Queensland finals.

Special mention to our girls who age out of the competition as they’ll be too old next year: Sophie Bridger, Elizabeth Joyce, Ava Tate, Jessie Leach, Nikita Wilson, Sarah Hanley and Bill Turner Captain, Keely Thorn - thank you girls for your efforts and congratulations on a very successful few years on this competition!

Well done girls for being the Regional Runners up in the Bill Turner Trophy 2021! Second placed school in the Darling Downs is a fantastic achievement!
