On Friday, 16 October 2020, three Glennie girls participated in the annual March Out Parade for cadets, occurring every year since 1892. In its 128th year, the parade was altered slightly to incorporate COVID safe measures. However, these new protocols and the fact that the cadets only had 24 hours to prepare, didn’t stop the outstanding performances of all students involved. Special guests included Ms Mary Anne Evans, our new Principal.
The reviewing officer for the parade was Colonel (COL) Eamon Barton (Commandant Swartz Barracks, Oakey) who was very impressed with the high calibre of drill, discipline and precision. For those cadets who met 2020 with a degree of excellence, the usual parade awards were presented. Year 8 student, CDT Heather Mackenzie, received the Ron Culliford Memorial Award for Best First Year Cadet, given her exceptional ability to wear her uniform, complete tasks and perform with pride. Year 12 student, CUO Eloise Radford, received the Fortescue Cup for Leadership and for winning the Platoon Competition.
Congratulations to everyone that participated and well done for your resilience during the last several months.
