A Word From Parents And Friends’ President

The first few weeks have passed and as I talk to more parents it seems to me we are all finally getting back into the rhythm.  The Parents and Friends’ and all sub-committees have had their first meetings of the year with great levels of engagement and support.

The Glennie One Stop Shop (GOSS) are recovering from the back to school rush.  The Glennie Equestrian Supporters Team (GEST) are busy preparing for the Glennie Equestrian Event to be held at the Toowoomba Showgrounds in March. The Performing Arts Supporters Association (PASA) have already agreed to assist both the Junior, and Middle and Senior Music Departments with the purchase of requested instruments. The Glennie Sports Supporters (GSS) have been busy ensuring the 'Snacks at the G' cafe in the Clive Berghofer Sports Centre at The Glennie School is closer to opening, while also supplying snow cones and pizza at the Middle and Senior Years Swimming Carnival.  The Glennie French Immersion Supporters Group (GFISG) have hosted their annual movie night for all families interested in learning more about the French Immersion program. Finally, the P&F hosted the annual Welcome Drinks event in the Junior Years courtyard.

I would like to again thank all volunteers, faculty and girls who helped set up, serve and run the evening.  It was wonderful to see the courtyard in the Junior Years decorated and full of parents who were able once again to meet on School grounds.

Attendance on the night was excellent and, while I did not get time to mingle, I really enjoyed serving drinks and having conversations with many of you as time allowed.  It has also been fantastic to receive the positive feedback about the event and the offers of help and support.  This means a lot to myself personally and more broadly to the Committee as we look ahead to how we can support the girls best.

With now only 5 weeks left in Term 1 before we break for Easter, I look ahead in the Glennie calendar to see a raft of activities, events and opportunities available to us as parents and more importantly our Glennie girls.  2021 sure is shaping up to be a busy and exciting year.
