My name is Miss Shayne Hayes and I recently commenced work at Glennie in the role of Sports/PE Assistant and Sports Coach.
My journey to Glennie is similar to many of the Glennie boarders. I was raised in a rural setting based across both the Northern Territory and Queensland. I completed most of my primary years at a small school in Glenmorgan, South West of Roma, Queensland. My secondary schooling led my brother, sister and myself to the co-educational school, Scots PGC College in Warwick where we were all boarders.
My experience as a boarder was nothing short of incredible, and the opportunities I was given, which I had never had before due to living in an isolated area, truly blew me away. To this day I believe boarding in itself, is an experience which can teach you important life lessons. My passion for sport started at boarding school and since then my passion for sport, education and most definitely women in sport, has grown. I am now studying Education, majoring in HPE at the University of Southern Queensland. I would have to say my current love is Rugby 7’s, Touch Football and Netball. However, in my short time here I am learning about and absolutely loving all sports available at Glennie. My family and I also compete in the rural sport of Campdrafting, which is a relatively new sport at Glennie, one in which I am very excited to be involved.
My role at Glennie allows me to work with Junior, Middle and Senior Years in all areas of sport. I am taking over from Mrs Natalie Leicht, in assisting Mrs Abby Varley in Junior Years, and from Miss Lauren Torr in Middle and Senior Years. I am also coordinating Football, Futsal, Representative Touch Football and I am sure there will be many more as the year goes by. I will be on campus from Monday - Friday and contactable through email - firstname.lastname@example.org
I am very excited to meet you all as the year goes by and I look forward to working with you in the wonderful world of sport.
