A Message from the Chaplain (1) (1)

Ribbon Day

Thanks to all in our Glennie community for supporting this year’s Ribbon Day activities. The girls all looked fabulous in their colourful, casual dress outfits, and filled their bellies with delicious treats at morning tea and a sausage sizzle at lunch. A huge thank you to those who baked these delicacies: especially Mrs Gayle Ash, Mrs Radunz, and the members of Donaldson and Chapel committees. The mega-raffle draw is always a highlight of the day. Thank you to the following groups who sponsored or provided prizes for this year: Mrs Gayle Ash, The Rutledge Family, Mrs Karen Morris, Kim Morrissey, Bazinga Entertainment Centre, Gelatissimo, Middle Ridge Family Practice, Priceline, Interact Committee, Arts Committee, Sports Committee, Academic Committee, Cut & Co, Tutor Groups DC, WA, WC, 9A, 7B, 8FI, Eloise Innes, and finally Robyn Lareman for the very hotly-contested final prize of a giant teddy bear. Funds raised each year go to the Australian Cancer Research Foundation.

As part of the day, we also participated in the Queensland Cancer Council Ponytail Chop. Almost 50 girls cut off their locks, raising money for cancer research and support services for people with cancer. The girls have raised nearly $33,000 for this cause this year. Sponsorship is still open and you can contribute online via https://ponytailproject2019.everydayhero.com/au/the-glennie-school-2019

Family Communion and Other Services for your calendar

Our next Family Communion service is on Sunday, 8 September at 9:30am. All are welcome to join us for the service, followed by a bring-and-share morning tea.

This coming Sunday, St Luke’s Church is holding a Pray for Rain service. Although we have been blessed with a small amount of rain this week, the drought is having a huge impact on communities of the Downs and further west. All are welcome to join us at 12 noon on Sunday for this special prayer service.

The Blessing of Pets service will be on Sunday, 13 October at 9:30am, and we will join with St Luke’s to celebrate St Luke’s Day on Sunday, 20 October at 10am.

Blessings for a wonderful Father’s Day to all the dads and father figures in our lives.

The Rev’d Sharon Baird
Chaplain
