Your daughter is offered the opportunity to participate in a fun and engaging co-curriculum that includes a full sporting program, dance, singing and music.
Following an ambitious capital works construction program completed in 2010, the Junior Years campus has green space play areas, 8 state of the art classrooms, a specialist art studio, a contemporary library and a spacious undercover play area. This program has transformed Junior Years into the modern, vibrant and exciting learning environment it is today.
As your daughter moves into secondary education and into the Middle Years program, she'll take with her established friendships and a sense of security and belonging within the Glennie community. She'll feel a confidence in her academic development and achievement whilst being eager and well prepared to embrace the next exciting step in her education.
Technology
All girls have lessons in the use of computers and software. The Junior Years computer workroom enhances individual competency in computer use and provides an ideal venue for collaborative work. Each classroom is resourced with a number of Notebook computers to provide consolidation of skills and use by teachers to complete learning activities.
The use and skill development associated with computer technology is integrated into most subject areas ensuring that computer usage reflects real world experiences as a tool to enhance learning. Teachers assume roles of adviser, content expert and coach. Technology assists in make teaching and learning more meaningful and enjoyable for the girls, allowing them to be active participants in their learning.
From Year 1, every girl uses an electronic folio of her work, kept by each girl as a record of their year's work.
Each class develops its own virtual classroom on the Glennie Portal, allowing girls and families unlimited access to a wealth of information, programs and curriculum materials.
Our teachers keep up to date with the latest technology through professional development opportunities. All classrooms are fitted with interactive whiteboards, enhancing the delivery of curriculum to meet the need of a broad range of learning styles.
Leadership
All girls in Year Six are given leadership roles during their final year in Junior Years. Student leadership encourages the girls to participate more fully in the life of the school, becoming agents of change for the School community.
By taking leadership roles, learning to speak in front of an audience, becoming involved in the organisation of activities and taking responsibility for her actions, your daughter will gain greater self-confidence through team work and a stronger sense of belonging.
Leadership in Junior Years prepares the girls for greater roles and activities in later years.
