Open House

16 October 2015

The Glennie Chapel will be open to the public this Sunday for the Toowoomba Open House Festival of Architecture weekend.

For the second year in a row, one of the historical Glennie buildings has been included in the Open House weekend so we're looking forward to a great response again from our Glennie community.

You are invited to join us for a guided tour, with commentary by The Glennie School Archivist, Mrs Jenny Black. Immerse yourselves in the history of The Glennie Chapel. Built in  1917 during World War 1, an appeal to families, friends of the School, students and past students to raise funds for a School Chapel was printed in The Glennie Gazette of 1916 and instigated by the first solo principal of The Glennie School, Miss Grace Lawrance.

Today, the Chapel of St Albans, situated in the picturesque grounds of The Glennie School Senior Campus, is a living museum for all to enjoy.

For further information go to the Toowoomba Open House website or their facebook page

Ben's Pop-Up Picnic

9 October 2015

Ben’s Pop up Picnic will be held on 17 October 2015. This is a FUNraising event for the Glennie School Foundation. Numbers are strictly limited – so be quick and order your tickets now to avoid missing out.

So, what is Ben’s Pop up Picnic? In the style of Diner en Blanc guests bring their picnic to The Glennie School, Aquatic Centre carpark at 2:00pm where they will be taken to the ‘top secret’ picnic site by bus. There is a back-up venue should there be inclement weather on the day.

The fun of the event means that there are some rules that must be obeyed:

  1. All guests must wear white, black or silver or a combination.
  2. Guests make a tax deductible donation as the entry fee.
  3. There are two options for your picnic. BYO everything or a combination as we can supply all you need or just food and wine, all of which can be pre-purchased or hired (tables & chairs).
  4. All guests must be ready to have fun!
  5. To register and see what you need to bring, go to teh website. Also, check out our Facebook page photo gallery

If you wish to drive yourself to the picnic site, still arrive at Glennie at 2:00pm and you will be given the directions to the secret destination.

Buses are provided to transport you and your picnic gear to and from the picnic venue. We plan to have the first bus leave the secret picnic site at 8:30pm, the second bus at 9:00pm and the final bus at 9:30pm.
