Decorate Your Jeans

10 June 2016

Soroptimist International Toowoomba, a global volunteer movement working together to transform the lives of women and girls, is holding a fundraising project. The proceeds will enable the education of three young women, who are not at school or any other learning activity, and may benefit from a ‘Ready for Work' program to prepare them for employment and empower them to contribute to the community.

If you’re feeling crafty, here is an opportunity to have fun for a great cause. Grab a pair of jeans from the Op Shop, your wardrobe or wherever. Decorate in any way you like eg paint, beads, stamping, stencilling, quilting, glue fabric, printing or any other media. Mix them up . . . there are no limits. You might win a $500 prize.

Have you lost something?

3 June 2016

The lost property boxes are currently packed with a treasure trove of uniform items, lunch boxes and drink bottles. As Term 2 begins to fade, so too do uniform labels and tags on belongings and unfortunately the majority of items in the lost property boxes can’t be returned to their owners.

Could we ask parents to check their cars and homes to ensure all uniform items and school items have names clearly marked on them. If by chance, your daughter has come home with another girl’s belongings please drop them into Reception and we will ensure they are returned to the owner before end of term.

Junior Years in particular has quite a few track suits missing. Would you please check your daughter's track suit to be sure it has her name on it? We think perhaps we have some girls accidentally wearing someone else's!

Password Changes

13 May 2016

We all have so many passwords it is impossible to remember them all. If you have forgotten your Gmail password for your Glennie parent email account, click the Reset Password button on the Portal.  Parent Gmail accounts are the parent billing code (numbers) followed by @glennie.qld.edu.au.

Parents are reminded that many important notices, documents and links relating to their daughter’s education are emailed to the Glennie parent Gmail account. Most parents have activated their accounts but don’t check them regularly. To make sure no messages are missed, we recommend that you forward the emails to your private email account. This can be done by following the instructions in this Youtube tutorial.

If you are having any trouble with your email account and would like some help, contact the IT Department it@glennie.qld.edu.au

MFit for Parents

6 May 2016

Our Middle Years girls are benefiting from the weekly wellbeing program MFit, which is part of the Glennie curriculum. This program helps the girls navigate the sometimes difficult road through the early teenage years. Founding Director of Open Mind Education and creator of the MFit program, Mrs Meg Durham will be visiting Glennie in early May to hold special intensive sessions with teachers and students. As part of her visit, Mrs Durham will also be holding a Parent Information Evening on Thursday, 12 May.

This is an opportunity for all Glennie parents to find out for themselves how the MFit program works and the ways that it can help their daughter to become All She Can Be. Mrs Durham is looking forward to answering your questions.

Boarder parents will not miss out, as the IT Department is working on a video link so parents who cannot attend in person can watch it live. For parents who have patchy internet, we will also record the session on video and make it available for viewing at any time.

If you would like to use the video link, please contact Ms Peta Vincent vincentp@glennie.qld.edu.au to make the necessary arrangements prior to the date.

RSVPs can also be made by emailing Ms Vincent
